President: Kathryn Wittek

Kathryn has been a member of SWE since her freshman year at Virginia Tech and has served in various leadership roles within the Society. As President for SWE-BWS, she is excited to lead the Section and increase membership engagement. Kathryn is currently a System & Test Engineer at Northrop Grumman in Annapolis, MD supporting Marine and Undersea programs.

Vice President, Outreach: Bertina Suber-Hanley

Bertina serves as Vice President of Outreach for the Society of Women Engineers- Baltimore/Washington Region, which immerses young girls and collegiates via outreach events. She is excited to assist SWE BWE to enhance the girl’s knowledge and experience in our region. Bertina is thrilled to continue working with the Science Olympiad, science fairs in the region, and other engineering events.

Vice President, Professional Development: Fatemah Al-Duoli, PhD

Fatemah is a Principal Technical Program Manager at Microsoft. She earned her BS, MS, and PhD in Engineering from Old Dominion University, where she first became involved with SWE and inspired by its mission. After reconnecting with SWE as a professional, she is excited to foster partnerships with local companies and curate professional development opportunities that empower and connect our members.

Treasurer: Gabrielle Leesman

Gabby works as a Space Systems Engineering Manager at Northrop Grumman. She strongly believes in SWEs mission and believes that we can utilize our talents and resources to encourage and inspire the younger generation to embrace STEM. She hopes to support the management of the section as we focus on encouraging our members to follow wherever their passions lead them.

External Secretary: Cassandra Morecroft King

Cassandra is a program leader with experience spanning defense, homeland security, and maritime industries. She currently serves as Deputy Program Manager for Unmanned Ocean Systems at BlackSea Technologies, bringing expertise in managing complex programs and guiding advanced technologies from concept to deployment. Cassandra is passionate about mentorship, collaboration, and creating opportunities for women in engineering to grow and lead.

Internal Secretary: Alyssa Harris

Alyssa has been a SWE member since her freshman year of college where she revitalized her university’s on-campus SWE organization. Alyssa is a strong supporter of the SWE mission, and the benefits of encouraging STEM education. She is currently a Deputy Chief Engineer at Northrop Grumman, and continues to work closely with early career talent to encourage creativity and problem solving in the workplace.

Interested in Running for the SWE-BWS Executive Council?

The Society of Women Engineer’s fiscal year begins July 1st and continues through June 30th of the following calendar year. All SWE-BWS Executive Council terms are 1 year. SWE-BWS will send out a call for nominations in May. Following this, the Officer Slate will be announced and members will have 2 weeks to submit their votes electronically. If you are interested in running for any of the EC positions, we encourage you to get involved throughout the fiscal year.
