SWE-BWS Tour at the National Museum of Women in the Arts

Saturday, April 12th 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Join SWE-BWS for a guided tour of Remix: The Collection at The National Museum of Women in the Arts. This is the first major museum in the world solely dedicated to championing women through the arts.

Remix: The Collection is a chronological collection that prioritizes traditional art mediums and white European and American artists. “Remix continues to reject outmoded and gender-based art hierarchies.”

All attendees are responsible for their own museum ticket. A ticket is required for entry. Tickets can be purchased in advance here or at the museum day of. Please note this event has limited tickets available.

Science Fair Season!

Science Fair Season is in full swing! It is important to note that the times currently listed are tentative, each fair will have it’s own reporting time. Please see below for the different opportunities to volunteer as a Science Fair Judge around the area:

Fairfax County Regional Science and Engineering Fair
Saturday, March 22nd
James W. Robinson Jr. Secondary School, Fairfax, VA

68th Montgomery Area County Science Fair
Saturday, April 5th
FDA White Oak Campus, Silver Spring, MD

Open Volunteer Role: Science Fair Coordinator

The SWE-BWS chapter is looking for a volunteer to track and coordinate the various science fairs, most of which take place in the spring, along with Science Olympiad events. If you’re interested or would like more information, please contact our VP Outreach, Bertina Suber-Hanley on Slack or at schiffany1@yahoo.com.

All SWE-BWS members are welcome to join the SWE-BWS Executive Board Meetings, which happen monthly. If you are interesting in attending, please RSVP and the Zoom information will be sent 2 hours before the meeting begins.

Thank you to those who attended the Morgan State University Science Fair.

These volunteers were involved with both High School and Middle School students and selected 10 Outstanding and 10 Promising female-identifying winners for gift cards!
