Each year SWE-BWS recognizes young women who are Outstanding and Promising Engineers at several local science and engineering fairs. They receive award packets comprising a certificate, an Amazon gift card, information about SWE, and an invitation to present their work at a special virtual SWE meeting.

Upcoming science fairs are listed below. No prior experience necessary and no technical expertise is required. We hope you can join us in supporting our next generation of women engineers! We are also looking for head judges. If you’re interested in serving as a head judge, you can indicate so at registration or email janine.carol.borofka@gmail.com. Click any fair below to register.

Annual Pi Day Fundraiser

Pi Day may be over but we prefer to celebrate pi all month! In the SWE-BWS community, we are strong supporters of this holiday, as it celebrates both our favorite irrational number and our favorite dessert.

This year, we will be holding our 4th annual Pi Day fundraiser throughout the month of March. In order to participate, all you have to do is:

  1. Go to your favorite local bakery, pie shop, or pizzeria (yes, pizza is pie)
  2. Make a purchase
  3. Send us a photo of your receipt at treasurer@swe-bws.org

SWE-BWS will match the price of your purchase and pledge the amount to World Central Kitchen, a foundation that distributes meals to individuals and communities in need. Our hope is that throughout March, we will not only raise money for this organization, but also support local businesses throughout the DC-Baltimore area. Let’s see if we can surpass the amount raised in 2023!

We hope you take this opportunity to enjoy some delicious food! Please email us at leadership@swe-bws.org if you have any questions.
